Opportunity: Volunteer Gardener Call-Out

We are looking for a small team of Volunteer Gardeners to help us care for The Orchard Garden, our community green space at TOSH. This hands-on role is perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and is passionate about sustainable, wildflower spaces.

We are looking for a small team of Volunteer Gardeners to help us care for The Orchard Garden at TOSH.

The Orchard Garden is our community built orchard, meeting place and wildflower meadow - supporting a thriving space for people, wildlife, and learning. This hands-on role is perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors, loves getting their hands dirty and gardens with nature first in a sustainable, wildlife friendly, no chemicals way.

What you’ll do

Follow the tasks suggested on the annual maintenance plan (provided by the Garden Coordinator), such as:

  • General garden maintenance: weeding, planting, mulching, and watering
  • Support seasonal tasks in the orchard: pruning, mulching, and harvesting fruit
  • Caring for the wildflower meadow: sowing seed, selective cutting, and habitat-friendly maintenance
  • Help maintain paths, herb beds, and communal areas
  • Work alongside other volunteers and coordinators during group workdays
  • Undergo wildlife-friendly and sustainable gardening practices

Skills and experience

  • An interest in nature, plants, and biodiversity
  • Experience in gardening in a nature friendly way
  • Willingness to work outdoors all year-round
  • Ability to carry out light to moderate physical activity
  • Friendly, reliable, and happy to work as part of a team or on your own

Time commitment

We are looking for a regular weekly or monthly commitment. Typical sessions last 2–3 hours (exact times depend on the season and tasks)
