✂️Reinvent - Repair - Rewear✂️

Community skill sharing workshop to get you mending and upcycling. Organised by award-winning sustainable fashion designer Laura Basevi and crochet designer and tutor Becca Parker from To Be Adorned.

In the UK, an estimated 13 million items end up in landfill each week! It’s time to take action to make do and mend the clothes already in existence. Bring along your own garments to swap, repair or revamp.

We're kicking off the first session of the year with a focus on denim upcycling and a clothes swap!

What to bring:

✂️ A garment that you would like to repair or reinvent. Laura will be on hand with expert sewing advice if you need it. We'll be sharing special denim upcycling skills this time, so you might like to bring some denim along.

👖If you fancy clothes swapping, bring along up to three garments in good condition. You'll be able to exchange them for pieces of equivalent value, and maybe even spark your next upcycling project! Any clothes leftover will be donated to charity.

🪡 You are welcome to bring along your own sewing machine if you wish - this means more people can get sewing!

What to make:

🧵We have a few sewing machines ready for you to mend and revamp your clothing. There will also be various vintage textiles and haberdashery, but if you need a specific item (i.e. replacement zip) either purchase your own or message beforehand and we will try to help.

👖It's all about denim! If you'd like to spruce up your go-to jeans, jacket or shorts, Laura will be sharing some brilliant mending and applique techniques so you can make the most of your favourites.

🧶Add a fancy edging! Becca will be sharing embroidery and crochet upcycling skills, perfect for revamping your denim too!

☕️It’s a relaxed atmosphere and a chance to reconnect with others over a cuppa while stitching. Free tea and coffee will be available on the night.

TOSH is an accessible venue (no stairs and steps!). There is a limited amount of free onsite parking available on a first come first serve basis. It's also just across the road from the Sovereign Centre car park (£2.00 for 2 hours) and Boscombe bus station - and just a 10 minute walk from Pokesdown train station.
