Ask An Artist: Access, Care, and Inclusive Arts Practice with Lizzy Maries of Ray Collective

Thursday 23rd April, 10.30am–12pm

Tickets: £4 donation

This Ask An Artist session, part of our OSC (Open School Creative) programme, is a relaxed, open conversation focused on access and inclusive practice in the arts, with a particular focus on the experiences of parents and carers.

This month we’re joined by Lizzy Maries, a creative producer, performance artist, and founder of Ray Collective - a community-rooted folk collective working with movement, music and craft. Alongside her artistic practice and collective performances, Lizzy is an active advocate for parents and carers in the arts, and has spent years navigating how creative work can be shaped around real life.

Over a cuppa, Lizzy will share her journey and offer insights into:

  • Making creative work more accessible and sustainable
  • Navigating care responsibilities alongside an arts practice
  • What inclusive practice can look like in reality (not just on paper)
  • Creating work with others - through collectives and shared making

Bring a collection of thoughts (it doesn't matter if they are very loose) and we'll explore them together!

Free to attend, open to all creatives at any stage.

Whether you're looking for tips, reassurance, or just a space to connect with others figuring it out too - come along!
