Spring Awakening: A Cacao Dance Journey

Join Alice for a sweet and soulful dance night, with a flow of meditation and sharing, drinking ceremonial grade cacao and intuitive dance.
Event description

Spring. From the belly of winter, inner new beginnings are growing: the stirrings of all we wish to flourish moving forward, our inner longings and tender-fresh hopes, all that we are calling in and bringing forth from within.

As the inner sap rises, we may be slowly stepping into the season, or we may be bounding into spring. However we are, whoever we are, there is a space for our rhythm and expression in this dance, space in which our whole systems can release, receive, rebalance and rejoice.

This will be a sweet and soulful dance night. Our evening will begin with a body-centred meditation and optional sharing – space to simply be heard. We will then drink ceremonial grade, heart-opening cacao, opening to expression and our intuition as the music guides us and life dances through us.

A note for those who are new / cacao dance curious

All are welcome. If you’d like to join the dance but feel unsure about being visible, you’re very welcome to try the dance with your camera off, or even via candlelight if you prefer. Similarly, please also know cacao isn’t necessary to feel the benefits of the music. All tracks are chosen specifically, so the playlist is a cathartic and enlivening journey in itself. Alice holds a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all.

Cacao Origins

The cacao is responsibly sourced and fairly imported by Forever Cacao. It is heirloom cacao grown wild in the gardens of the Asháninka communities, rather than farmed, which enables them to safeguard their lands against the threat of loggers.

A percentage of any profits will be donated to Xapiri Ground, a non-profit organization dedicated to grassroots work with the indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest. Their projects focus on arts, culture & sustainable economy for the autonomy of the communities and the protection of their ancestral territories.

Cacao is a sacred non-psychoactive plant medicine. It is rich in antioxidants and minerals and can evoke the bliss chemicals in the body, enabling a gentle journey of deep discovery and a receiving of inner guidance from the wisdom of the heart.

For the ceremonial grade cacao to work its heart-opening magic, please avoid caffeine and dairy on the day of the ceremony. Please fast for 3 hrs before the start of the ceremony. If you experience low blood sugar or need to eat, a light snack is fine.

If you are taking anti-depressants, please consult your doctor before drinking cacao. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consider the theobromine in cacao is a stimulant, so a lower dose is recommended. If you have a heart condition please consult your doctor before drinking ceremonial grade cacao as it significantly increases the heart rate and is a vasodilator, opening blood vessels, increasing blood flow and reducing blood pressure if it is high.
